Chapter 3 is coming: deflections, loose balls, and arguing with the referee

Hi, I'm the solo dev behind Be a Goalkeeper, a pixel-art football game where you never score: you're the last line.

Chapters 1 and 2 are out now on Google Play. Here's what I'm finishing for Chapter 3.

The ball doesn't always go where it's aimed

  • Deflections: a free kick clips the wall, or a long shot hits a sliding defender or a flying block. You get one split second to read the new direction.
  • Loose balls: a save that spills in front of the goal. Pounce on it, or punch it clear?
  • Face the referee: when a teammate is carded, the commentary ticker announces it and the referee scene opens. You can protest (the card might be withdrawn, but if it fails, you get booked), calm him down (his next card this match is only a warning), or stay out. The odds are written right on the buttons. On a red card, calming is locked.

Why these three

A goalkeeper doesn't only react to shots. You read the game around you, and sometimes you have to decide whether to step in. I wanted decisions that feel like decisions, not just reflexes.

Try it

The game is free on Google Play: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.porogapit.beagoalkeeper

Chapter 3 is still in progress, so there's no date yet. Which of the three would you most like to try first? Tell me in the comments.
