What's Next for Dodge Rush
Dodge Rush is already live on Google Play, but I don't consider the game finished.
Actually, I don't think I ever want it to feel "finished."
The next phase is about growing the game while keeping its original philosophy intact: simple to understand, challenging to master, and never pay-to-win.
One of the next features I'm working on is customizable trails for the characters.
Players will be able to unlock and purchase different trails using coins earned through gameplay. I'm also planning to introduce more characters and expand the customization options.
More obstacles and gameplay mechanics are also on the roadmap. The challenge will be adding variety without turning Dodge Rush into a completely different game.
I'm also interested in building a more centralized score system.
That could eventually allow players to compete against each other through global leaderboards, making high scores more meaningful than simply beating your own previous record.
Achievements and additional competitive features are also possibilities. Daily challenges are already part of the game, and I'd like to expand on that idea over time.
There is currently advertising in the game as well. Players can optionally watch an ad to double the coins earned from their latest run.
But there's one rule I want to keep:
Dodge Rush should never become pay-to-win.
The game should reward skill, persistence and time spent playing, not how much someone is willing to spend.
I'm also interested in eventually bringing Dodge Rush to iOS. The main reason I haven't done that yet is simply the additional publishing cost.
But perhaps the most important part of what's next isn't a specific feature.
It's the community.
Right now, I'm looking for my first 100 users, eventually reaching 1,000+ downloads, getting more feedback, validating the idea and learning what players actually want.
I don't want to build Dodge Rush entirely based on what I think players should want.
I'd rather build it together with the people who play it.
So if you've tried Dodge Rush, I'd love to hear what you think.
What should I add?
What should I change?
What would make you come back tomorrow?
The next version of Dodge Rush should be shaped by the people actually playing it.
