Paranoia #12: Deceptive Traps in "Sand Track" 🕳️

We are almost at the end of the chapter! Let's take a look at Level 12: Sand Track.

On the screenshot below, you can see a long sandy track filled with various obstacles. Your goal is to touch the light gray target tiles (like those at the top) to turn them blue.

The Design Concept:

  • Hazardous Path: The way to the target tiles is blocked by chasers standing right in your way. The level is also filled with blue pools of water, circular pits with deep drops, and other chasers locked inside separate rooms.
  • A Deceptive Solution: Up until now, luring enemies into pools or pits was a reliable tactic to get rid of them for good. While you can still do that here, it comes with a new danger.
  • Surprise Return: The chasers in this level do not disappear permanently when they fall into a trap. If you lure one into a hole or into the water, they will simply respawn at a completely different location on the board.
  • Pure Chaos: The real catch is that these respawn locations are entirely random. You cannot predict or memorize where an enemy will pop back up. Getting rid of a chaser is a massive gamble, as they might just reappear right next to you at the worst possible moment!

You have to be constantly on your guard and ready to adapt your route in a split second. Next time, we will take a look at the grand finale of the Paranoia chapter!
