Night battles, burning steppe and collapsing houses
Blocky Tanks is now on PixelPicked — thanks for checking it out! Here's what landed in today's update.
Night battles got tools. Night was already in the game, but you could only squint into the dark. Now: • Illumination flare (new support button, key 9): it rises, bursts and drifts down on a parachute for 12 seconds. Everything inside the 60 m circle is visible to both teams — light doesn't pick sides. • Searchlights on the Seelow Heights, like the real night attack of April 1945. Two at each base sweep the field; a tank caught in an enemy beam is spotted and its crew is dazzled. Knock a searchlight out with HE or ram it.
The map changes during the fight. • Prokhorovka: HE shells, bombs and artillery can set the dry steppe on fire. Flames burn tanks, thick black smoke blocks the view — light a field and hide behind the smoke. • Stalingrad: about once a minute a building near the fighting collapses on its own and spills rubble into the street, half-blocking it. • Destructible buildings everywhere: log houses fall to 2 HE hits, brick houses to 4; walls char first, then the house becomes a pile of rubble you can drive (slowly) and shoot through. Fences, haystacks and tents simply get flattened.
New buildings. Ten old placeholder props were rebuilt as proper low-poly models: barn, haystack, picket fence, woodpile, two-storey brick house and its ruined version, water tower, well sweep, smithy and post windmill.
Balance. All guns got tighter dispersion (fully aimed shots at 100 m now hit centre mass 75–87% of the time), and late-war German vehicles got +8% hit points to keep the 1943–45 front even.
Next up: pillboxes, a ruined factory, a kolkhoz and a burned village — built from WWII photos.
