v0.5.0 — armored train from real blueprints, new WWII buildings
Blocky Tanks v0.5.0 is out. This one is all about the world around the tanks.
Armored train, rebuilt from blueprints. The armored train in the campaign finale (Chapter 1) was remade from 1:87 technical drawings: a PR-35 armored locomotive with its tender (16 m long, armored cab, observation towers) and a PL-37 armored platform with a 76 mm turret and machine-gun ports.
Buildings based on wartime photos: • Soviet machine-gun pillbox and a German Regelbau casemate on the Seelow Heights • Factory halls with tall arched windows, a ruined workshop with bare steel trusses, and 26 m brick chimneys at the Stalingrad Tractor Plant • A kolkhoz yard: office with a red flag and long thatched log cattle barns • Dugouts with log-covered entrances next to the trenches • A red-brick locomotive depot facing the tracks at the Minsk pocket • A field airfield hangar at Kursk • A burned village: charred log walls and lone stoves with chimneys
Also rebuilt: barns, haystacks, fences, woodpiles, two-storey brick houses and their ruins, water tower, well sweep, smithy and windmill.
From v0.4.0: night battles with illumination flares and searchlights, the steppe catching fire from HE shells, houses collapsing in Stalingrad, and destructible buildings everywhere.
