Chiby.io: Improved maps, animations, server and MORE

Chiby.io got a fresh map for the countries quiz! Nicer animations new sounds effects and more stable servers!

Country shapes look like countries

The map behind the "Countries shape" quiz has been improved.

• Far more detail. Norway has its fjords, Greece its islands, Croatia looks like Croatia not a ugly polygon!
• Four islands that only showed as a silhouette are now on the map too.

Proper flags for five French territories

Martinique, French Guiana, Guadeloupe, Saint Pierre and Miquelon and Wallis and Futuna all used the French tricolour. Impossible to tell apart.

• Each one now has its own flag.
• France no longer shows up as a wrong answer next to them.

Learn: every map and every flag

Two new pages, under "Learn" in the menu: country shapes and world flags.

• Sorted by continent, with a search box.
• Study before a game, or settle an argument.

One look for players in every game and cleanup of avatars

Player avatars had too much around them and we cleaned them up. Also improved consistency across the games so that "points" or other elements that are supposed to communicate the same thing, looks the same way across different games.

• The "YOU" tag is gone. Your own name is gold instead.
• The host crown no longer floats over the avatar. It sits next to the name.
• Score badges, top-3 trophies and the "your turn" glow are the same in every game.
• WordBits avatars are bigger: 50% on desktop, 25% on tablet.
• Long names on Take Side are no longer cut short on desktop.

WordBits goes pop

• The bomb explodes when time runs out. Everyone sees it.
• Every letter you type pops a bubble, higher in pitch as the word grows. You hear it on other players' turns too.
• The three letters bounce in at the start of each round.
• Your word and the letters stay on screen while the result shows.

Fixed:

• "Word taken" no longer shows for the word you just sent.
• The result pill no longer covers the letters on mobile.
• Everyone mode shows the last result before the leaderboard instead of skipping it.
• The "Prevent word reuse" setting is gone. Everyone mode still blocks a word already sent this round.

Small things

• Drawit plays a sound each time the next drawer is announced.
• Drawit hides the player list on the round results. The drawings get the full screen.
• Drawit has lost its "Beta" label.

Server improvements

We have also worked hard to monitor what was going on during players sessions and we made quite few improvements. You should see less connections break, and no longer be locked out the room if you happen to lose connection.
