Teaching a block puzzle without a single line of text

Block Reactor has a lot going on: pure lines, bombs, bolts, prisms, 29 charms and a Chips × Mult score. A wall of text would lose most players before the first piece, so the first run skips the explanations.

What the first run does

  • It opens on a guided round.
  • A hand drags the real piece, and you follow it: a line, then a pure line, then a bomb that fires a bolt for a ×3 chain and a clean board.
  • The first shop shows only charms, and the hand points at one. Boosts wait for the second shop.
  • During sector 1 of your first two runs, the hand comes back if you stop playing for 6 seconds.

Why a hand

Showing a move is quicker than describing it, and you learn on the real board with the real pieces. It also works the same in all 10 languages.

Block Reactor is on Google Play, and its Launch Week on PixelPicked runs Nov 8–14. The demo on this page starts with that same guided round. Did the hand teach you enough, or did you get lost anyway? Let me know.
