From Practice to Online Play: A Wooiko Chess Development Update

Our first devlog is a look at the iPhone app as it stands today and the learning routine we are building around it.

One idea, four ways to work on it

Learn a concept in the lessons or explore an opening. Practise spotting it in tactical puzzles or against computer opponents. Try applying it in an online match. Then use game analysis to review the moves and decide what to practise next.

Chess Online: Play & Learn brings these steps together on iPhone. The current app also includes classic games to study and a two-player mode for sharing one device with a friend. Online play is already part of the released app.

Starting with a small session

Pick one tactical theme rather than rushing through many unrelated puzzles. After solving a position, explain the opponent's strongest reply before moving on. The goal is to recognise the idea when it appears in a game.

You can try at least one mode without creating an account. The app is free to download, with ads and optional in-app purchases. Some features require a subscription; the app shows the current offers and access limits.

What would make practice easier?

We would like feedback on the step from learning an idea to using it in a game. Which is hardest for you: understanding the lesson, finding the tactic, or reviewing a mistake?
