When a small game suddenly starts getting real traffic
This week CYDI crossed an interesting threshold. Instead of testing mostly with small, controlled traffic, the game suddenly had to handle thousands of real rounds in a day and hundreds of active devices.
That changed the questions.
Before, the main one was: "Does the drawing mechanic work?"
Now the questions are:
- How quickly can someone start playing?
- Where do players drop out?
- Do they come back?
- Do they try multiplayer?
- Is it better to let people play before asking them to install anything?
One result of that shift is the standalone Drawing Challenges: each shape or object can open directly in the browser, so a visitor can experience CYDI before committing to the full game.
Multiplayer also got meaningful real-world use, which is a different kind of feedback from playing alone.
