Smarter Enemies, Deeper Strategy & Battlefield Progress

31 October 2026 | Development Update

FrontRumble continues to evolve! Over the past few weeks, we've been focusing on one of the most important elements of our game: making battles feel more strategic, dynamic and unpredictable.

Our latest development milestone brings significant improvements to enemy AI, tactical decision-making and the in-game economy.

🧠 PvE AI — Enemies Are Getting Smarter

One of our biggest recent achievements is a major upgrade to the PvE opponent's intelligence.

Previously, enemies relied on relatively predictable behavior. They often opened battles in the same lane, selected similar cards and sometimes deployed defensive structures at the wrong moment.

We've made substantial improvements.

The AI can now:

  • Evaluate battlefield threats across all five lanes.
  • Select different opening strategies and starting units.
  • Identify when a defensive structure is actually needed.
  • React to incoming enemy pressure.
  • Compare available cards before making tactical decisions.
  • Avoid wasting defensive resources during unnecessary engagements.

Our latest gameplay tests confirmed that these improvements are working as intended.

The goal isn't to create an unbeatable opponent. It's to create an opponent that makes meaningful decisions and forces players to think strategically.

💎 Mana Flow — The Power of Economy

We've also been testing one of FrontRumble's more interesting strategic cards: Mana Flow.

Mana Flow is an economic building that increases natural Mana regeneration by 30%. Multiple active buildings provide stacking bonuses.

During testing, we discovered something important: having more Mana doesn't automatically mean winning.

In one battle, several Mana Flow buildings were active, yet the match remained extremely close and continued into overtime.

In another test, better resource management resulted in a decisive 2–0 victory with approximately one minute remaining.

This highlights an important part of FrontRumble's gameplay philosophy:

Resources create opportunities. Strategy turns those opportunities into victories.

Mana Flow currently remains unchanged while we continue observing its balance.

⚙️ The Next Evolution of AI

Our experiments also revealed a challenge.

While the PvE bot understands offensive units and defensive structures, it doesn't yet fully recognize the strategic value of economic cards such as Mana Flow.

That's why we're designing the next major AI improvement: Card Understanding System.

Our objective is to teach opponents to evaluate what cards actually do, including:

  • Resource generation and economic investments.
  • Healing and unit survival.
  • Offensive pressure and direct damage.
  • Defensive positioning.
  • Battlefield control and support effects.

This system is currently in the architecture and research stage, not yet a completed gameplay feature.

We want future enemies to understand the difference between spending Mana on immediate battlefield pressure and investing in long-term advantages.

🛠️ Stability & Gameplay Testing

Alongside gameplay development, we've continued cleaning and validating our Unity project.

Recent verification milestones include:

  • Clean C# compilation with zero errors or warnings.
  • 25 successful controlled AI decision tests.
  • Successful Play Mode testing of enemy opening behavior.
  • Gameplay validation of defensive building placement and tactical reactions.
  • Continued Android build testing and optimization work.

These milestones give us a more stable foundation for developing additional cards and combat systems.

🚀 What's Next?

Our immediate priorities are expanding AI understanding, continuing card-balance testing and improving the overall battle experience.

We're also preparing more gameplay footage and cinematic promotional material to showcase FrontRumble's characters and battlefield.

FrontRumble is still in active development. Many systems will continue evolving as we move toward our first Closed Beta Test.
