Every village drawn, and the tale can be told again

Old Woods is a free illustrated text RPG built from Romanian folk tales, played in short daily turns in any browser. This is its first devlog here: what arrived in the last weeks.

Every village place has its picture The inn, the smith, the healer, the bank, the docks, the stables and the camp of each of the five woods are now drawn, each by day and again by night on the game's own clock. The shore, the letters, the stocks and the keeper's table have their pictures too. There are new pictures for the end of the tale, and for the children you may meet in the first days.

The tale can be told again, and differently Once your tale is told to its end, you may begin it again, and the woods will not be quite the same. Heroes who finish may choose which earned title to show, and an epithet beside it.

World events come to the river The stolen sun and the siege are joined by a travelling fair, a flood and the hail-riders. They come by the keeper's hand or by chance, never two at once, and the village tells how long each has left. A letter and a phone notice say when one begins.

Try the game before you sign up From the front page you can play as a guest for a week, then keep the hero with a login and a name of your own. New heroes play at once and confirm their address later.

Smaller things Letters read like a chat, and one not yet read can be taken back. Twelve new meetings wait in the downstream woods. The riddles have been rewritten, the banker has more to say, the Hall of Fame has grown, and the guide tells more of the world.
