Sep 20, 2026Tessera is live: my first game, built alongside a full-time job
Hi, I’m Ahmed. I spent around nine months building Tessera as a side project alongside my 9–5 job.
The idea was simple: what if the numbers were already on the board, and your job was to find the regions? Each group has to connect edge-to-edge, and all the pieces need to fit together.
That grew into three puzzle types:
- Logic: equally sized regions with no repeated numbers.
- Chroma: groups of coloured cells that match a colour recipe.
- Equate: groups of numbers that satisfy arithmetic targets, unlocked through progression.
It’s now available on iPhone and iPad. The core puzzles work offline, and it’s free to play with ads and optional purchases, including a one-time Premium upgrade. No subscription.
If you give it a try, I’d appreciate hearing whether the first few puzzles make the region-drawing rules clear. Where did you get stuck?
Thanks for taking a look at my first game.
