Chapter III released

Chapter 3 Is Live!

A new Voidborne Tactics update is now available, bringing the next chapter of the campaign, new ships, persistent battle damage, campaign improvements and several important fixes.

Chapter 3 - Keth Valori San'Dreth

The introductory war reaches its answer.

Chapter 3 adds 12 new missions, plus a hidden 13th mission for commanders paying close attention.

This chapter also introduces more varied mission objectives and outcomes:

  • Protect ships that must survive the battle

  • Talk some enemies down instead of destroying them

  • Find alternate paths to victory in several missions

  • Discover the hidden mission and secret objectives

The campaign is continuing to move beyond simple fleet destruction and toward missions where your decisions - and what you choose not to destroy - can matter._

New Premium Hull - Albatross

The Albatross is a pirate salvage frigate designed around one very simple philosophy:

If you're going to fight a war, you might as well make money doing it.

Its unique Wrecking Rights ability awards a share of the battle's Credits as long as the Albatross survives.

The Albatross also includes two additional skins:

  • Savage

  • Veteran

New Cogitex Research Hulls

Two new Cogitex ships have joined the research tree.

  • Micro-Drone: A crewless support corvette designed to keep the rest of your fleet alive. It heals allied ships, can operate from carrier hangars, and unlocks after the Freebooter.

  • Splinter: An expendable line frigate with a slightly unusual definition of "destroyed." When the Splinter goes down, it breaks apart into drones and continues contributing to the fight.

These ships are the beginning of a larger expansion of Cogitex mechanics.

Persistent Battle Damage

Your ships can now carry the visible scars of combat.

Hull damage appears during battle and remains visible until the ship is repaired. As repairs restore the hull, those damage marks gradually disappear as well.

If you prefer a cleaner visual style, Hull Damage Markings can be disabled from Battle Settings.

Campaign & Star Map Improvements

The campaign interface received another visual and usability pass:

Sharper, pre-rendered campaign illustrations

Improved chapter navigation

Clearer chapter selection highlighting

Additional minor visual improvements

Chapter 4 — Coming Soon

Fixes

A few important battle and campaign issues were also addressed:

Fixed battles occasionally ending early when carrier fighters were destroyed while enemy ships were still alive

Must-survive ships captured through boarding can now be retaken if your fleet still has boarding capability

If you cannot retake a required ship, losing it will immediately fail the battle

Resetting campaign progress now correctly hides secret victory conditions again

Thanks to everyone playing, testing, reporting issues, and sending feedback.

There is still much more planned for Voidborne Tactics, and Chapter 3 is another step toward making the campaign deeper, stranger, and much less predictable.

Good hunting, Commanders.
