What is ScanBeast?
ScanBeast turns the real world into a monster-collecting battler. Scan any grocery barcode and a unique creature is born — its element, stats and rarity forged from the product's real nutritional values. That box of pasta in your pantry? It might hide a Legendary. The same barcode always forges the same beast, so you and your friends can hunt, compare and trade.
What's in the game
- 🔦 Scan & capture — point your camera at any food barcode and generate a one-of-a-kind beast from real nutrition data.
- ⬆️ Evolve — rescan products to level up your beasts through evolution stages and unlock abilities.
- ⚔️ Live duels — battle a friend in the same room over WiFi or Bluetooth, no internet needed. Turn-synced and cheat-proof.
- 🌐 Online arena — random matchmaking or challenge friends online, on a deterministic lockstep engine that keeps every match fair.
- 🤝 Friends, chat & trading — add friends by code or QR, message them, and trade beast cards.
- 🛡️ Clans — found or join a clan, rally in group chat, trade with clanmates, run friendly duels, and climb the clan leaderboard together.
- 🎖️ Season Pass, missions & trophies — 25 tiers of free rewards every season, daily missions and permanent trophies to chase.
- 🏆 Global leaderboard — climb the online Top 100 ranked by total XP.
- 🥗 A health angle — every beast carries the real Nutri-Score and macros of the food it came from. A battler that quietly teaches you what you eat.
- 🌍 6 languages — English, Italian, Portuguese, Spanish, French and German.
The road here
ScanBeast started as a scrappy idea — what if a grocery run could be a monster hunt? — and shipped its first public build on itch.io back in July. From live WiFi duels to an online arena, friends and trading, a full clan system, a Season Pass, and now a public Play Store launch at v2.0.1, every update was shaped by players actually scanning their pantries and duking it out.
To everyone who tested, reported bugs, filled the leaderboard and founded the first clans: thank you. You built this with me.
