Game Description

Pixel Platoons is a retro squad-based action game inspired by classics such as Cannon Fodder, combining fast-paced combat with persistent soldiers, progression and permadeath.

Take command of a small platoon and fight through campaigns spanning the deserts of Africa, the jungles of Asia and the frozen battlefields of Russia. Your soldiers gain experience, earn promotions and medals, rescue comrades and build their own service histories as they survive each mission. But survival is never guaranteed. Soldiers can be wounded, killed or lost permanently, and the consequences follow you throughout the campaign. Those who fall are remembered at Boot Hill, where each theatre of war develops its own growing cemetery—a permanent record of the cost of your campaign.

Missions range from assaults and rescues to demolitions, defensive operations and extraction under fire, with vehicles, destructible environments and specialist objectives changing how each battlefield plays. Survive long enough and your best soldiers may also find themselves selected for classified Black Ops missions.

Designed as a modern tribute to the accessible but unforgiving action games of the early 1990s, Pixel Platoons combines painterly pixel-art visuals, dark humour and simple squad controls with a campaign where every soldier has a name, a history—and potentially a headstone.
