Game Description

Snakes is a logic puzzle where one swipe moves every snake on the board at once.

How it plays

  • Swipe (or use the arrow keys) and every snake moves one step in that direction at the same time.
  • A snake that is blocked stays put. Walls, the edge of the board and other snakes all block, and holding one snake in place while the others move is often the key.
  • Eating an item makes a snake one cell longer, so the board gets tighter as you go.
  • You get exactly the minimum number of moves needed to clear the board. Every puzzle has a shortest route, and finding it is the puzzle. Undo is free.
  • Stuck? The hint button first tells you whether you're still on track, then shows the next move.

What's in it now

  • 3 short tutorials that teach the rules.
  • A pack of 10 puzzles on 5×5 to 7×7 boards, each with three snakes that all matter.
  • Every puzzle is checked by a custom solver, which proves it can be solved and computes the exact minimum number of moves.
  • Plays on phones (swipe) and on desktop (keyboard).

Development

Snakes is in beta and is being actively playtested. It is currently playable in the browser, with Android and iOS apps planned. Difficulty is tuned from real play data, and a daily puzzle mode is next.

Feedback is very welcome: there's a quick rating after each puzzle.
