About this game
Turn a ruined fort into a medieval trading empire. Port of Kings is an offline strategy and harbour-building game set on the 13th-century Adriatic: build a port, run merchant routes, rule through plague, war and the King's tax collector, and hand it down to your heirs.
Raise cottages, quays, a market, a cathedral, a mint and a shipyard. Hire households, put merchants on the trade routes and send galleys out along the sea lanes. Watch a pixel-art town grow from a bare rock to a working port, season by season.
EVERY SEASON IS A DECISION Each season you read a card and answer it by swiping. A holy man asks for your pulpit. Pilgrims put in at the quay. A carpenter you fed in the lean years walks back through the gate, and what you do about him is remembered. The King sends his lords to look at what you have built, and expects a table.
RULE FOR GENERATIONS Lords grow old and die. The next one inherits your harbour, your debts and your reputation, including the parts you would rather they did not. Refuse Venice, and decades later their factor comes to see what was built with the traffic that should have been theirs.
RIVALS, KINGS AND DIPLOMACY Trade pacts, alliances, blockades, truces and open war with rival ports. The more renown you earn, the more the rest of the coast wants to be your friend, and the less they like being behind you. Keep the Crown patient, or break with it.
NO NUMBER LIES TO YOU Every choice shows its real odds before you make it. The season's ledger itemises every florin in and out. Every threat that can end your reign runs a visible clock, so you always know how long you have.
If you like medieval strategy, city builders, trading games, dynasty sagas and games of hard choices, this game is for you.
