About this game
Get a Grip: 4-Finger Climbing
Available on Google's Play Store now!
Made for touch screens. Get a Grip is built to be played with four fingers on a phone or tablet: two for your hands, two for your feet. It plays best with the device flat on a table, using two fingers from each hand. A mouse works in the browser, but touch is how the game is meant to be played.
Slide a finger toward a hold and that limb reaches for it. Lift it and the limb lets go. Every move uses real body physics, so you climb the way a climber does: keep three points of contact, get your feet up before you reach, shake out when your forearms pump and chalk up when your grip gets greasy. Hang off your arms too long and you'll peel off.
RACE YOUR RIVALS Gus owns the gym, and he wants to see what you've got. Beat Charlie, the gym's hotshot, then Johnny, the fastest climber in the place. Their see-through ghosts climb beside you, reading moves, pumping out and shaking off just like you. Beat them all and Gus comes out to race you himself.
REAL ROUTES Eight colour-coded gym routes from 5.7 to 5.12a: jugs, crimps, slopers, pinches and pockets on an overhanging wall. Three puzzle routes (Sphinx, Rubik and Labyrinth) where finding the sequence is the challenge. Three extreme routes up to 5.14a (Black Hole, Event Horizon and Singularity). Every route is proven climbable with the same body you climb with.
RACE YOURSELF Your best climb comes back as a ghost to chase. Earn three stars by topping out without a fall.
FEATURES
- One finger for each hand and foot
- Pump, chalk, shake-outs, and falls caught by the auto-belay
- 14 routes from 5.7 to 5.14a
- Three rival races and a gym owner with something to prove
- Hints when you're stuck, and a guided first climb
- No ads
THIS BROWSER DEMO The demo has the full indoor gym. The full game on Google Play adds an eight-pitch outdoor mountain, which you can climb roped or free solo, and the Big Wall: one continuous 284-metre face where a single fall ends the run, with height leaderboards. The Android game is completely free, with no ads, and plays offline.
Mouse controls (if you're not on a touch screen): drag from the top part of the screen for a hand or the bottom part for a foot. The left half is your left side. Let go of the button and that limb keeps holding. Drag again from the same area to move it to a new hold. Right-click to let go, or press Backspace to let go of everything. To jump, let go of everything, then double-click a hold.
A NOTE FROM THE DEVELOPER This is the first game I've ever published. I've put a lot of time, thought and care into it, and more than anything I want people to enjoy playing it. Thanks for giving it a climb.
