Junk files are removed, JPEGs and JSON are recompressed, and everything is repacked at maximum compression. File names and folders stay the same.
Get a smaller ZIP plus engine-specific tips for anything that has to be fixed in Unity, Godot or Construct.
Every megabyte is time a player spends watching a loading bar, often on mobile data. Smaller web builds start faster, lose fewer players before the first tap, and fit within hosting limits such as PixelPicked's 50 MB cap for playable demos.
Start with the biggest wins: convert WAV audio to OGG or MP3, compress large PNG and JPEG images (WebP is often 25–60% smaller), remove junk files like source maps and __MACOSX folders, and zip the build at maximum compression. This tool does the last three automatically.
In Player Settings → Publishing Settings, set Compression Format to Gzip or Brotli. Lower texture Max Size and enable Crunch Compression, set audio to Vorbis, and set Managed Stripping Level to High. Unity packs assets into the .data file, so they have to be optimized inside Unity.
Removing junk files, maximum ZIP compression and JSON minification don't change how your game runs. Converting images to WebP and downscaling images do change files, so they are off by default. Test the game after using them.
No. The ZIP is opened, optimized and repacked inside your browser. Nothing is sent to PixelPicked or anyone else.
Playable demos on PixelPicked can be up to 50 MB as a ZIP. Smaller builds also load faster, which keeps more players past the loading screen.
