Game Description
Shardfall: The Sundering
The star Vael has fallen. Five Shards awakened five Dominions, and the Heartshard is beginning to stir beneath the world. You are a Shardcaller: a deckbuilder, tactician, and explorer deciding what survives in Aethyr.
Shardfall is a dark-fantasy trading card game designed around meaningful decisions. Build a 40-card deck, manage your Aether, summon Units, cast Rites and Rituals, and read the battlefield before committing to a line. A match can turn on one blocker, one resource conversion, or one well-timed response through the Chain.
The core gameplay loop
Prepare a deck, choose your Dominion identity, and enter a focused tactical battle. Wellsprings generate Aether, so each turn asks you to balance development against tempo: do you add another resource, deploy a Unit, hold up a Rite, or set up a stronger turn later? Combat is about attackers, blockers, damage order, and the threats your opponent will be able to answer. Rites and activated abilities can create a Chain, letting you respond at the right checkpoint and resolve effects in the order that benefits your plan.
The result is TCG depth without the friction of a marathon session. Decks are compact, turns are readable on a touch screen, and the mobile-friendly resource system helps you stay in the game even when your opening draw is imperfect.
Modes and ways to play
- Campaign — The Waking Grove: Follow Chapter I through the fractured wilds of Sylvaris. Story battles introduce characters, rival plans, and encounters with distinct rules. Campaign progression gives the world context while teaching the fundamentals naturally.
- Skirmish: Practice against replayable AI opponents with your own decks. Test a new curve, learn a Dominion matchup, or tune a list before taking it into a harder challenge.
- Daily Gauntlet: Face a seeded daily challenge built around a specific scenario. The board and challenge are designed to make you rethink familiar cards, giving you a fresh tactical puzzle each day.
- Arena — The Proving Gauntlet: Draft a temporary deck pick by pick, then fight an escalating run of AI champions. Every choice changes your curve, your synergies, and how far the run can go; victories improve the reward path.
- Decks and Collection: Build, save, and refine multiple 40-card decks. Browse the first set, compare card roles, filter your collection, and shape a strategy around a Dominion or a hybrid plan.
- Forge, Quests, and Progression: Turn duplicate cards into crafting resources, complete daily quests, earn rewards through play, and keep improving your collection between battles.
The current public Android build is focused on single-player play and can be enjoyed offline. You can start with the tutorial and campaign, then move between Skirmish, the Daily Gauntlet, Arena, deckbuilding, collection management, and the Forge without needing a constant connection.
Five Dominions, five philosophies
- Verdance turns growth into pressure: resilient Units, scaling boards, and patient advantages.
- Pyre plays for initiative: fast attacks, Rush, and direct damage that punish hesitation.
- Tide wins through information and tempo: card draw, counterplay, and carefully timed control.
- Dawn protects the board: healing, defensive tools, unity, and buffs that make a formation stronger together.
- Gloom trades certainty for inevitability: sacrifice, removal, decay, and revival from the Ruins.
Every Dominion has a distinct feel, but the most interesting decks come from understanding how their tools fit together. The same card can be powerful in one plan and merely average in another, so deckbuilding is about a complete game plan rather than collecting isolated high-rarity cards.
A combat system built for decisions
Shardfall uses original terminology and mechanics that are easy to read while still rewarding mastery. Wellsprings provide Aether. Units occupy the Arena. Spent cards move to the Ruins, while the Chain gives fast spells and abilities a clear response window. Keywords such as Soar, Swiftstrike, Rush, Aegis, Rampage, Venom, Ambush, and Awaken change how a card should be sequenced and how an opponent must defend.
The advantage is clarity with room to grow: new players can understand the board at a glance, while experienced players can plan around priority, combat math, resource timing, recursion, and hidden information. The interface is built for touch, with readable card details, tap-and-hold keyword help, and a turn structure that keeps important choices visible.
Why Shardfall stands out
- PvE-first design: A story-rich campaign and repeatable challenges give the game a strong reason to play even when you do not want competitive matchmaking.
- Deep turns in short sessions: A 40-card deck, 25 Health, compact resource curve, and mobile-sized encounters keep battles focused while preserving real tactical trade-offs.
- Real deck identity: Five original Dominions, distinct keyword packages, and flexible card roles make experimentation worthwhile.
- Fair collection goals: Campaign rewards, quests, packs, crafting, and duplicate conversion give you multiple ways to work toward the cards and decks you want.
- A world with a long arc: Aethyr is not just a backdrop. Vael, the five Shards, the Heartshard, and the rival champions create a setting designed to unfold across stories, cards, and future chapters.
- Offline-friendly Android play: The core single-player experience is available on Android and does not require a persistent connection.
The world is fractured. The Dominions are rising. Build the deck that survives the Shardfall.
