Game Description

EMPRISE is a one-on-one card duel played on a small grid. Every card has four numbers, one on each side. When you place a card, it compares numbers with each enemy card it touches: if your number on the shared edge is higher, that card switches to your side. At the end of the game, whoever holds the most cards wins.

Ten Orders change the rules. Archers capture in a straight line, even from a distance. Guardians get stronger on the side being attacked. Ashes pull the nearest cards towards them, allies included. Scribes hide their numbers from the opponent. You bring two Orders to each duel, and the pair you pick changes how the whole game plays.

Two equal numbers in the same move trigger Resonance, and captured cards can attack in turn, so one placement can chain captures across the board.

Modes

  • duels against the in-game AI, with four difficulty levels
  • a story mode in eight chapters, one per Order
  • eight-player tournaments
  • a draft mode
  • online Ranked, from Bronze to Legend, with a top 100 Pantheon
  • friend challenges sent by link

Free, no ads, no in-app purchases, no account: a nickname is enough.

The game is in French only for now. It is playable today in the browser at empriselejeu.fr, and the iPhone app is in App Store review.

EMPRISE is made by one person.

AI Disclosure

Yes, AI was used. The card art and illustrations were generated with AI image tools, then retouched. The game's code was written with an AI assistant (Claude), under my direction, and I test every change myself. The promotional videos and some marketing texts were also made with AI help. The music in the videos is "Song Of The Forge" by Scott Buckley (CC BY 4.0), not AI; the game itself has no music.
